Ok Kids!

As some of you may know, I have been pursuing my Masters in Information Systems (MIS) while I have been working here at GW for the last few years. On Monday, May 19th, I start my very last class before I actually graduate at the end of July! (if you knew my undergrad performance, you are chuckling right now).

Why should you care? Well, you shouldn't. But I care, because, I want your help!

This class is called "Design of On-line Information System" and here's a brief description:

"Capstone project course. Analysis, design, and implementation of on-line information systems. Systems analysis, database design, dialog design, response time and reliability calculations, system testing, and project planning. Prerequisite: M.S.I.S.T. candidacy or department approval."

That means I (we) get to come up with an idea or business problem or need (or it can be non-for-profit, or even just plain fun or the "why did you build that? because we CAN" kind of thing) which will be addressed or solved by designing an online information system of some sort... This means no work for you - I just want your ideas!
Maybe you have a situation at work, at home, in life, which needs to be addressed, if only you had the time to think it through and put together an IT solution for it...well you do...sort of...actually I have the time since I am this class!

So, please think about it, send me ideas, thoughts, notions, rants, and maybe we'll talk through those which merit further investigation...

Ultimately I would love to walk out of this class having presented on something (yes, the deliverable is a presentation in front of not just the class, but also the whole Masters Program Faculty, Chair, etc.) which was spawned by leveraging the potential advantage which these, social & viral networks can give us to create something for a purpose, a solution, the next best thing since sliced bread (or hot water)... who knows what could happen....you follow?

Ok, now go put this notion in the back of your brain, and please carry it with you, day in, day out, and when it hits you:

"Hey! This could be a good idea for Matteo to Rock that class with!"

.... start writing me, post to this forum if you want to share it with the masses and get discussions going to take it to the next level, bulletin board it, IM me from my site (off the home page, through Nimbuzz) or just call me or e-mail me, and we'll (hopefully) rock it out! Ok, that's it for me, I'm done. Thank you in advance for your help!

"the expert center"

real-time, web-based collaboration / knowledge management app allows people to link up with experts of various disciplines (graphic arts, legal, music, physics, etc) in "live" (who's online right now that can help me with this Photoshop issue?) environment for on-demand answers to immediate questions. interactions between experts and learners are documented and solutions search-able by keyword. solutions ranked by user community by usefulness.

all your standard social networking functionality applies (blog, friends, personal pages). totally public, totally free.

I find it ironic and of course funny that when you discussed your lackluster undergrad performance you mispelled the word performance. I seriously question GW's hiring and graduate acceptance policies - but congrats on almost being done anyway.

I will give it some thought and let you know if I have any ideas.

I have a need for a data miner, basically a program to log into my MLS and pick up various data such as expired listing mailing addresses then port it to a format that I can mail merge with MS Publisher. - or if you can automate that as well...
I have a couple other things like this that I need also..

Hey if you are still accepting work you could make me a program that can mine email addresses off of a webpage. That way I could do a search on all agents in somerset county and collect their emails. then dump them into a database I could easily email from
